Camping lighting - How to choose

Camping in the dark can be terrifying, that's why we should choose camping lighting for you. To do this, you need to consider the use of the lighting fixture (the intended use), source of power and performance you need. Start without further delay!

Step 1:  Think about the use you will make

  •       Are you going to use it inside the tent?
  •      Will you use it to illuminate dimly lit path?
  •      What power source for your needs?
  •      Witch intensity are you looking for?

Step 2: Bring light to your options

The ambient lighting or lanterns can illuminate a larger area and offer the best lighting options. Only batteries lanterns should be used in a tent.

Directional lighting. Pocket lamps or headlamps, this lighting allows you to work in low light, and plans to best distance. Directional lighting generally works with batteries.

Multifunction lighting. This type of lighting includes multifunction models and lighting sets with several different devices.

Tent Lighting. Suitable for tents, lighting cell tent can be easily attached to most ceilings. Some models are equipped with a lamp and a fan for warm nights.

Step 3: Power sources

Battery electric lighting. The battery electric lighting is powerful and practical. If you are using batteries to light fixtures, make sure to bring extra batteries.

Rechargeable lighting. They can often be connected to an electrical outlet or other power source such as an auto power outlet 12 V some models are powered by solar energy or crank.

Fuel lanterns. They are powered by propane, naphtha or oil. They should be used in a well ventilated area, not in a closed place like a tent. As they produce heat, caution should be exercised when used in the presence of young children and pets.

Step 4: Lamp or bulb type to use

CFL
CFLs are more energy efficient and emit a cool white light to the touch. They can be replaced.

LED
A light bulb emitting diode (LED) is extremely energy efficient and don’t need to be replaced. It is unbreakable and cold to the touch.

With sleeves
A bulb socket is supplied to the fuel and hot to touch. The sleeves can be replaced.

Step 5: To better understand
Large vocabulary on lighting camping

Intensity
It is usually expressed in lumens; the higher the intensity, the higher the light is bright but energy consumption is then higher, and autonomy is reduced.

Distance and Scope
The maximum distance at which the beam can be projected, or the maximum area which can be illuminated.

Autonomy

The burning time or battery life.
